YOGA CLASS

The beginning of each session will start with a yoga class to help us ground, de-stress and become more connected to the body. These classes will build upon each other introducing more advanced poses and alignment fundamentals throughout the program.

Who Is This Program For?

Anyone who is interested in improving their yoga practice, learning more about alignment fundamentals and how yoga relates to our connection with nature. All levels of yoga practitioners are welcome! If you are a beginner to yoga you will have the opportunity to learn poses from the ground up and gain a stronger knowledge of the fundamentals. If you have more experience with yoga this is an opportunity to improve your alignment in poses that are already in your practice.

Why Am I Running This Program?

This program has come to life as part of the outreach/volunteer program that I am completing for a 300 hour yoga teacher training I am currently enrolled in with Body Temple Yoga School. When designing our outreach programs we were asked to volunteer and incorporate yoga as a way to serve communities and interests that we are passionate about. My immediate thought was that I wanted to share yoga with people that are interested in learning to live in a different way from societal norms and cultivate a more harmonious and connected relationship with the earth. I am still at the beginning of my journey in learning how I want to apply more ways of sustainable living into my life and hope to both share and learn from others in the community interested in similar topics. It is also my goal to get other contributors for the learning and discussion section of this program so that we can build our knowledge together as a community.

About Me

My name is Matt Lawley and I am a yoga teacher and digital marketing consultant who works with small businesses in the areas of health/wellness, yoga, travel, training, retreats and more. I am interested in working with people, projects and centers that are passionate about creating new ways of living in environmentally conscious ways and in community. My yoga classes tend to have fewer poses so that there is time to build each pose from the ground up. We will focus on alignment principles and how these affect different parts of the body and associated energy centers. I’ve completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training in Alignment-Based Hatha with Body Temple Yoga School and I am currently enrolled in a 300 hour advanced yoga teacher training through the same school. I’ve also completed a 100 hour yin yoga training with Shanti Atma Yoga in Chiang Mai, Thailand with an emphasis on fascial studies and Chinese medicine. I spend most of my free time in nature, hiking, backpacking, traveling, playing music and of course practicing yoga.
